Founder

Mike Durina brings over four decades of plastics industry expertise to MD Plastics Inc. With an AAS in Plastic Engineering from Ferris State University and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Kent State University, Mike began his career in 1978 working for injection molding firms before joining Spirex in 1984. During his 16-year tenure as VP of Sales & Service, he grew Spirex from $1.8 million in sales with 18 employees to $22 million with 180 employees. In 1999, Mike founded MD Plastics Inc to focus exclusively on advancing plasticating technologies. His deep understanding of the critical role plasticating units play in injection molding has led to eight issued patents, with innovations including the Melt Profiler™, Inject-EX™, Mini-Shut™, and MDP™ Performance Valve.
